Grand Hotel Dining Table
Table Roche Bobois and 6 Grand Hotel chairs - New Classics Collection.
Pierre Dubois and Aimé Cécil kept the straight lines from the 1940s era but softened them with curved legs and decoratively cut low crossbars.
The Grand Hotel collection is a tribute to the woodworking of this era, when it was common for cabinetmakers to also work as decorators, builders, and designers to offer complete projects for customers.
The tabletop features a diamond-shaped marquetry veneer, repeated with the grain to be perpendicular to the “natural” grain. The leg bases are in a very elegant silvered-finished brass.
The tabletop opens by splitting in two and sliding left and right through rails hidden below the tabletop. It unveils a 35.5 inches (90cm) extension leaf. The mechanism is silent and easy to open with only one hand. When fully extended, the marquetry design on the top is repeated on the extensions.
Base in solid ash wood. The top is in ash wood veneer.
